Hi, my name is Alexia (they/them). I am a third-generation settler who was born and raised on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri and Bunurong people of the Kulin nation, from the Eastern Aegean islands of Samos and Lesvos and Pontian ancestry. I am a queer social worker and somatics practitioner offering talk and somatic therapy. I have worked in the community services sector for 13 years in a variety of roles, predominantly in small, grass-roots and community-oriented services, with survivors of all kinds of systems-driven violence. My approach is relational, trauma-informed, intersectional, culturally-responsive, embodied and informed by anti-oppressive and anti-colonial frameworks.
I work with people from different backgrounds and ways of being in the world with whatever is happening for them. This may be challenges with relationships (of any kind), anxiety, stress, burnout and managing the difficulties of living within systems that are not designed to support them. While it's not my lived experience, I am neurodivergent and SW affirming.
I also provide supervision for youth workers and social workers, support practitioners to integrate somatic approaches into their work and facilitate groups and workshops.
